Xspace Unicademy China currently runs in Beijing, nested in the international department of The Second High School Attached to Beijing Normal University, a highly reputable local school. A new program location will be added in Fall 2020 in Qingdao, China. Xspace Unicademy China is operated in strategic partnership with Virtual High School (a long-established online school in Ontario) and School District 91 (Nechako Lakes) in British Columbia. Successful graduates of this program will obtain an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
The Xspace Unicademy China program is a 3-year program spanning from Grades 10-12. The first year of the program (Grade 10) focuses on helping students build foundational English skills and develop North American study habits through various ELL courses and English 10. This is to help students fully prepare for the academic rigor of Grade 11. In Grade 11, students must write and pass the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT), a graduation requirement for obtaining the OSSD. Grade 11 is also spent working closely with our counsellors to plan and prepare for applying to universities.
Students complete all courses required for graduation by the end of first semester in Grade 12. In second semester, students travel to British Columbia for an immersion experience in a local Canadian high school. Students also have the opportunity to complete Advanced Placement (AP) courses for university credits and/or to build their portfolio for university applications.
