Full-time International Program Advisor, Xspace Unicademy Vancouver

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree 
  • At least 3 years’ experience working with high school and/or post-secondary ESL students
  • Bilingual (English and Mandarin) skills are a strong asset, as most of our students and parents speak Mandarin
  • Demonstrated strong experience in international student management and services
  • Strong communication skills, interpersonal, organizational and research skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work in a timely and efficient manner
  • Adapts and quickly responds to changes in the workplace
  • Familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other computer applications
Job Description:
  • Academic Advising 
    • Create study/graduation plans for prospective and existing students 
    • Have regular check-ins with students regarding overall academic performance in the program 
    • Liaise with course instructors to track student progress and assignment submissions in the overall program, including completing and delivering student reports 
    • Host regular parent-teacher meetings and update parents on students’ progress 
    • Coordinate university application, academic counselling and monitoring services for students
  • Program Administration 
    • Complete enrolment and course registration procedures for students 
    • Book and administer exams for Xspace’s testing center 
    • Schedule classes and create class timetables 
    • Run student orientations upon enrolment  
    • Assist online instructors with classes as needed 
  • Student Recruitment and Community Building 
    • Liaising with business partners and agents regarding Xspace program matters
    • Maintaining and creating various school news via marketing medias, including print materials newspaper ads, website, and social media (e.g. Wechat)
    • Arranging school events/activities, including field trips, grad ceremonies, extracurricular activities for students as required by the program.  
    • Hosting educational seminars and events for students and parents  
  • Perform other duties as reasonably assigned

Part-time Online Facilitators

We currently seeking part-time online facilitators in the following subject areas for the 2019-2020 school year: Math, Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, Business, Economics, and English.  Online Facilitators will be working with small classes of students in the Xspace Unicademy program.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
  • Have at least 2 years’ experience working with students in an instructional group setting
  • TESL certification and/or a teaching certificate is an asset
  • Have native English fluency in writing and speaking
  • Comfortable using laptops, computers and classroom technology
  • Must be able to commit for a 5-month term (Sept. 2019 to Jan. 2020).  Most courses run Mondays to Fridays between 4:00-9:00pm PST.
Job Description:
  • provide interactive lessons and activities in the classroom based on content as created by the course creator/evaluator
  • ensure student understanding of content & identifying needs for reinforced learning of course content
  • provide targeted feedback to students’ work
  • direct the flow of classroom activities and working with the classroom assistant to ensure student engagement in the classroom
  • liaise with the classroom assistant and Xspace management staff to oversee student progress
  • maintain detailed records of students’ progress and classroom performance
  • participate in mid-semester parent-teacher conferences.
